The Dubai Maritime Authority, part of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation, has reported remarkable growth in maritime permits issued in 2025, particularly by the end of the third quarter. The number of permits has surpassed five times the figures from the same period in 2024, showcasing significant international investor confidence in Dubai’s maritime sector.
Recent statistics reveal that permits for vessels engaged in commercial maritime activities have experienced a record increase, growing more than fivefold compared to the previous year. Additionally, permits for towing operations for marine vessels and commercial ships rose by 80%, highlighting the sector’s rapid expansion in the Emirate.
Sheikh Dr. Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, CEO of the Dubai Maritime Authority, attributed this growth to the swift progress of Dubai’s strategic projects, including waterfront developments and artificial islands. He emphasized that these initiatives not only enhance the emirate’s infrastructure but also bolster its appeal to global investors within a secure operational environment.
Dr. Saeed noted that all permits issued adhere to the highest international safety and environmental standards, balancing economic growth with ecosystem sustainability. He asserted that the surge in the maritime sector reflects the visionary leadership of Dubai’s rulers and reinforces the emirate’s status as a global maritime hub committed to sustainable development.
