The Prime Minister emphasized Iraq’s commitment to strengthening relations with the IMO, developing its port infrastructure, and completing projects like the Al-Faw Grand Port and the Development Road.
The Prime Minister also mentioned Iraq’s preparation for the upcoming audit for IMO member states in November, which will facilitate registering the Iraqi flag on vessels engaged in international trade. The IMO Secretary-General praised Iraq’s economic diversification efforts, strategic geographical location, and expansion of maritime infrastructure. He offered technical support, scholarships through affiliated academic institutions, and opportunities for Iraqi maritime experts to participate in technical meetings at the IMO headquarters.
