Lloyd’s Register (LR) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NLNG Shipping and Marine Services Limited (NSML) aimed at enhancing maritime training and advisory services throughout West Africa. This collaboration was unveiled at Gastech 2025, highlighting the importance of local expertise and infrastructure.
The partnership leverages NSML’s established presence and its Maritime Centre of Excellence (MCoE) in Bonny, combining it with LR’s extensive global technical expertise. Together, they plan to create and promote specialized training programs that will bolster maritime competence, ensure adherence to regulations, and improve operational efficiency.
Courses developed under this agreement will feature both LR and NSML branding, providing industry stakeholders with a recognized standard of quality. The training initiatives will focus on key areas such as class and statutory training, ship-specific instruction, ISM Code and management systems, port management, business improvement, environmental management, and health and safety.
This strategic alliance aims to address the growing demand for skilled maritime professionals in West Africa, ultimately contributing to the region’s economic development and sustainability in the maritime sector.
