Marcura has acquired Shipdem, a UK firm specializing in chemical tanker laytime and demurrage, from Casper Shipping. This acquisition enhances Marcura’s expertise in managing the complexities of chemical tanker demurrage, which requires both technical knowledge and a disciplined approach to claims handling.
Following the acquisition of HubSE in 2025, this move reinforces Marcura’s commitment to expanding its claims management capabilities across various cargo types. HubSE’s self-service technology for tanker demurrage will complement Shipdem’s managed services, offering customers flexible solutions tailored to their operational needs.
Henrik Hyldahn, Group CEO of Marcura, emphasized the importance of providing varying levels of support based on customer operations. The integration of Shipdem into Marcura Claims will allow the existing team to focus on chemical demurrage while sharing their expertise across the organization.
Current Shipdem clients will experience continuity in service, now enhanced by Marcura’s global infrastructure and increased dispute resolution expertise, alongside ongoing investments in technology.
