Starlink Maritime has dramatically reduced the cost of its unlimited data package for IMO-registered vessels from $25,000 to $2,500 per month, marking a 90% decrease. This new pricing strategy aims to attract the commercial shipping sector, with authorized distributors like Elcome, Marlink, Tototheo, and Clarus already promoting the offer.

Launched in early 2024, the Mobile Priority Unlimited package includes unlimited, uncapped data along with a complimentary high-performance terminal. It also comes with a 99.9% uptime service-level agreement, enhancing its appeal to shipping companies.

Industry experts believe this significant price drop could significantly boost the adoption of Starlink’s services within the merchant fleet, making high-speed internet access more accessible for maritime operations. This move may reshape connectivity standards in the shipping industry, fostering enhanced communication and operational efficiency at sea.
