Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has welcomed the delivery of a new liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) dual-fuel very large gas carrier (VLGC), named Energia Grandeur. The vessel was commissioned by MOL Energia from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries and was delivered off Mokpo port, South Korea, on January 29, 2026.

Energia Grandeur will operate under a time charter with CSSA Chartering and Shipping Services SA, a subsidiary of TotalEnergies. This dual-fuel carrier can run on both LPG and heavy fuel oil, allowing for a significant reduction in emissions—approximately 20% less carbon dioxide and up to 90% fewer sulfur oxides and other pollutants compared to traditional heavy fuel oil. Additionally, the vessel is designed to transport ammonia.

Measuring 230 meters in length and 32.25 meters in breadth, Energia Grandeur boasts a cargo tank capacity of 88,000 cubic meters. Scheduled for completion in 2026, the ship features a shaft generator to enhance operational efficiency and incorporates specifications aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions relative to standard LPG dual-fuel VLGCs. Financing for the project includes a transition-linked loan.
