PaxOcean, part of the Kuok Maritime Group, has inaugurated a new S$200 million shipyard at 5 Jalan Samulun in Singapore’s Jurong Industrial Estate. Covering 17.26 hectares, the facility boasts two large graving docks, one floating dock, and enhanced quayside capacity, aimed at supporting complex maritime and offshore projects. The shipyard replaces PaxOcean’s former site at 33 Tuas Crescent, allowing for quicker project turnarounds and tailored engineering solutions for both local and international clients.
Over the next three years, PaxOcean plans to invest over S$3.5 million in research and development, backed by the Singapore Economic Development Board. A significant aspect of this investment includes establishing a Centre of Excellence for Engineering R&D, focusing on carbon capture, systems integration, and digital twin applications. This initiative will create 12 high-skilled engineering roles.
Additionally, the shipyard features the Innovation Hub@5JS, a collaborative platform designed to foster partnerships among maritime experts and technology innovators. This hub will support the development of sustainable maritime solutions, aligning with Singapore’s net-zero ambitions. The facility incorporates energy-efficient infrastructure, including large-scale photovoltaic panels and advanced climate control systems, emphasizing its commitment to sustainability.
