Nippon Paint Marine has partnered with Lloyd’s Register Advisory to evaluate the long-term performance of its FASTAR and AQUATERRAS hull coatings. This collaboration aims to assess speed-loss performance using the ISO 19030 standard, providing shipowners with an impartial benchmark for coating efficiency, fuel savings, and emissions reduction.

The study will encompass a variety of vessel types, including container ships, bulk carriers, and cruise ships, analyzing performance across different routes and operating conditions. This approach will help isolate environmental factors and quantify hull degradation over time.

Lloyd’s Register will utilize noon reports, high-frequency vessel data, AIS tracking, and metocean inputs to establish a comprehensive performance database. The focus will be on Nippon Paint Marine’s leading products: AQUATERRAS, a biocide-free fouling protection coating, and FASTAR, a low-friction antifouling coating.
