NYK Line has recently become a co-owner of Northern Offshore Group (N-O-G), a crew transfer vessel (CTV) operator, in anticipation of the growing offshore wind industry closer to Japan. N-O-G currently operates over 60 CTVs globally and has had a collaborative relationship with NYK since 2019. With this investment, N-O-G will benefit from NYK’s global network for technical development and growth, while NYK gains operational experience for the expected expansion of offshore wind in Japan.
David Kristensson, CEO of N-O-G, will continue to lead the company with full support from NYK. Carl-Johan Hagman, NYK executive officer, has been appointed as chairman of N-O-G’s board of directors. The collaboration between NYK and N-O-G is based on shared values and vision for the future, aiming to enhance global presence and improve services for customers in the maritime industry.
Both NYK and N-O-G are committed to the highest operational quality standards and aim to pioneer marine technical solutions for lower environmental emissions, with a goal of achieving zero emissions by 2050. The partnership will allow N-O-G to maintain its independent identity while benefiting from the resources of the wider NYK Group. Together, they look forward to shaping the future of the offshore wind industry with innovative solutions.
