The Government of the Republic of Palau has appointed Palau Ship Registry to manage the nation’s official shipping registry under a new governance framework. This decision follows a thorough evaluation of the registry’s future operations, emphasizing accountability, transparency, and adherence to international maritime standards.
In December, the Ministry of Public Infrastructure and Industries took charge of the Ship Registry to ensure continuous service for vessels flying the Palau Flag. During this transitional period, registry services remained uninterrupted while the Government assessed the new operational framework.
Palau Ship Registry has now begun its operations, taking on daily management responsibilities as outlined in its contract with the Government. The Government of Palau has confirmed that all marine regulations, notices, and statutory documents issued prior to this new arrangement will remain valid, subject to verification via online or QR code.
This new framework aims to provide clarity and stability for shipowners, operators, and international partners, ensuring that the Palau Flag meets the standards expected by regulators, classification societies, and the broader maritime community.
