Parkland, which operates the oil terminal at sections 94 to 96 of the Port of Montreal, has joined Green Marine, a certification initiative aimed at enhancing environmental performance in the marine sector. This membership obliges Parkland to implement practices and technologies that directly reduce its carbon footprint, contributing to the overall sustainability of the Montreal port area.

In 2024, it was reported that 67% of the tonnage passing through the Port of Montreal came from tenants involved with Green Marine, a figure expected to rise as participation in the program becomes a mandatory lease condition. The Montreal Port Authority (MPA), a founding member of Green Marine since 2007, supports this initiative, which includes other tenants like Logistec and Valero.
