On Tuesday, a ship named The Armada docked at Greenock after navigating the Firth of Clyde. Currently flagged in Singapore, the vessel is owned by Texas-based Ocean Infinity and was launched in 2022, with successful sea trials completed a year later.

The Armada, measuring 78 meters, arrived from Leixões, Portugal, and has previously been spotted in Norway. It is operated with a minimal skeleton crew aboard, with plans for future operations to be managed from shore.

Ocean Infinity highlighted the ship’s design as forward-thinking, emphasizing its fuel efficiency and capability for onshore control. The company aims for The Armada and its sister ships to eventually function without any crew offshore, utilizing renewable fuels like ammonia.
