QatarEnergy has declared Force Majeure to its buyers after halting liquefied natural gas (LNG) production due to the ongoing conflict involving Israel, the U.S., and Iran. The company announced this decision on March 4, 2026, emphasizing its commitment to maintaining communication with stakeholders.
Production ceased on March 2 following military strikes that prompted precautionary shutdowns of oil and gas facilities across the region. Qatar is a significant player in the global LNG market, accounting for approximately 20% of the world’s supply and ranking as the second-largest exporter after the United States.
The Gulf nation plays a vital role in balancing LNG supply between Asia and Europe, with Asian buyers representing 82% of QatarEnergy’s customer base. The situation highlights the interconnectedness of geopolitical events and energy markets, as QatarEnergy navigates these challenges while striving to uphold its relationships with stakeholders.
