Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Transport has declared the complete resumption of maritime navigation activities, encompassing pleasure crafts, tourism, fishing, and various marine operations. This announcement marks a significant step forward for the local maritime sector.
In a recent social media update, the ministry emphasized the importance of safety for vessel owners and seagoers. It urged individuals to thoroughly check and ensure that all navigation and safety equipment are functioning properly before and during their journeys, highlighting the need for secure and safe sailing experiences.
Maritime navigation activities had been temporarily halted on October 4 due to a technical issue with the GPS system, which compromised the accuracy of navigation devices. Following this, a partial resumption was announced on October 6, permitting vessels to operate within 12 nautical miles of the coast, with a stipulation that they must return before sunset.
With the full resumption now in effect, the Ministry of Transport is committed to promoting safe maritime practices and ensuring that all participants in marine activities prioritize safety measures as they return to the waters.
