The security situation in the Red Sea has deteriorated sharply, marked by consecutive attacks on merchant vessels and Israeli airstrikes on Yemeni ports. The Liberian-flagged bulk carrier Eternity C, operated by Cosmoship Management, was attacked about 50 nautical miles southwest of Hodeidah. The assault involved drones and small arms, leaving the ship adrift with 22 crew members onboard. This marked the fourth attack on the Eternity C, with reports of casualties among the attackers.

On the same day, the Magic Seas also faced a similar assault, escalating concerns over maritime safety in the region. Concurrently, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) launched strikes on key Yemeni ports, claiming retaliation against Houthi aggression. Satellite imagery shows significant damage to port infrastructure, including the destruction of the Saleef power station, critical for grain operations.

In a rare positive development, over 150 Indian seafarers stranded at Ras Isa port since December have been released. The situation remains tense, with maritime security firms advising vessels to adopt safety measures amid ongoing threats. The International Maritime Organization emphasizes the need for constructive dialogue to address these geopolitical issues affecting navigation and safety in the Red Sea.
