SINGAPORE – The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) issued $230,100 in fines and three stop-work orders following 514 site inspections conducted between April and June. These inspections focused on machinery safety in the construction, manufacturing, and marine sectors, revealing 1,263 unsafe conditions.
Among the safety violations identified were unguarded machinery parts, such as saw blades, which pose injury risks to workers. Additionally, forklifts were found lacking essential safety features like seat belts, mirrors, and lights, or were deemed faulty.
In 2024, there were 587 major workplace injuries and 43 fatalities, as reported by MOM’s Workplace Safety and Health Report.
