Singapore Re-Elected to IMO Council for 17th Term

On November 28, Singapore was re-elected to the Council of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), an agency of the United Nations focused on maritime safety and pollution prevention. This marks the 17th consecutive term for Singapore, as confirmed by the Ministry of Transport (MOT) following the voting held in London.

The delegation representing Singapore was led by Acting Minister for Transport, Mr. Jeffrey Siow, and included officials from both the MOT and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). Mr. Siow expressed Singapore’s honor in serving on the IMO Council and emphasized the importance of collaboration with other member states to advance the organization’s critical mission in shaping the future of global shipping.
