A vessel incident was reported in the Arabian Sea on Friday, 20 nautical miles east of Khor Fakkan, UAE, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO). The organization noted “suspicious” activity involving the ship but withheld further details, confirming only that authorities have begun an investigation.

Media sources indicate the crude oil tanker involved is the Marshall Islands-flagged Talara, which was en route from the UAE to Singapore. Security firm Ambrey reported that the tanker abruptly altered its course in the Gulf of Oman, steering toward Iranian territorial waters.

Ambrey assessed the event as likely a “targeted” operation and noted that three small boats had approached the Talara as it navigated south through the Strait of Hormuz. So far, Iranian authorities have not commented on the incident.
