ITT Inc. announced that its Svanehøj division has secured its first contract to supply flow technology for next-generation Ultra Large Ethane Carriers (ULECs). The agreement involves delivering deepwell fuel, cargo, and stripping pumps for two ULECs, each capable of carrying 40 million gallons, starting in early 2026 for a prominent European maritime client.

Ethane, essential for energy and petrochemical production, is transported in liquefied form at low temperatures to facilitate long-distance shipping. Svanehøj’s advanced pump solutions have become the standard in the marine industry for ethane transport, featuring electrical components positioned outside the tank for easier maintenance. ULECs represent the third generation of large-scale ethane carriers, offering improved performance and multi-gas transport capabilities.

This contract follows Svanehøj’s successful entry into the ethane carrier market in 2019, during which it has received multiple awards for its pumps used in Very Large Ethane Carriers (VLECs). Currently, all VLECs globally are equipped with Svanehøj deepwell pumps.

Søren Kringelholt, CEO of Svanehøj, emphasized the company’s nearly century-long commitment to innovative flow technology in the marine sector, highlighting its ability to meet the rising demand for alternative fuels and drive continued growth.
