The Indonesian foreign ministry has reported that three crew members are missing following the sinking of the UAE-flagged tugboat Musaffah 2 in the Strait of Hormuz on March 6. The incident is part of a troubling trend, as there have been multiple attacks on vessels in the region since the onset of the US-Israeli conflict with Iran on February 28.

The Musaffah 2 was carrying a total of seven crew members from Indonesia, India, and the Philippines. According to the ministry, four crew members were rescued, while three Indonesians remain unaccounted for.

Prior to its sinking, the tugboat experienced an explosion that led to a fire onboard. Local authorities have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident to determine the cause and any contributing factors.
