Noatum Maritime, a maritime services provider based in the UAE and part of AD Ports Group’s Maritime & Shipping Cluster, has acquired the region’s first all-electric hydrofoiling pilot boat. In addition to this milestone purchase, the company has also invested in two fully electric tug boats. These vessels are part of Noatum Maritime’s efforts to decarbonize its operations and contribute to sustainability goals in the region.
The Artemis EF-12 pilot boat, powered by Artemis Technologies’ eFoiler technology, is a significant advancement in energy-efficient pilotage. This 12-meter vessel lifts its hull above the water’s surface, reducing drag and cutting energy consumption by up to 85% while increasing speed and efficiency. The purchase of two Damen RSD-E tugs 2513 further enhances Noatum Maritime’s sustainable towage operations at Khalifa Port, with rapid charging technology and the ability to complete multiple assignments on a single charge.
By investing in zero-emission pilotage and harbor operations, Noatum Maritime aims to deliver cleaner and more efficient solutions that reduce the environmental footprint of port operations while driving long-term cost savings for both the company and its customers. The company’s CEO, Ammar Mubarak Al Shaiba, highlighted the benefits of offering fully electric alternatives to support customers’ sustainability goals and potentially enable them to leverage carbon credits. Additionally, Noatum Maritime has recently partnered with ASRY to provide integrated marine services in Bahrain, with the aim of expanding marine service offerings in the region.
