Anglo-Eastern Univan Group, a leader in independent ship management, has launched “Mission 30,” aiming to increase the percentage of management-level officers under 30 from 1% to 30% by 2030. This initiative addresses the evolving crewing landscape and a shrinking talent pool, focusing on building a younger, agile workforce in maritime leadership roles.
To support career development, Anglo-Eastern established a Career Care team in 2024, comprised of experienced Marine HR leaders. This program provides structured career pathways, personalized guidance, and essential skills to help seafarers thrive in a rapidly changing industry. The initiative also emphasizes seafarer well-being, offering mentorship and support for career progression, including promotions and transitions to shore jobs.
Vinay Singh, Group Managing Director of Marine HR, noted the concerning trend of an aging workforce, with only 1% of management-level officers now under 30. Mission 30 includes tailored career maps, targeted training, and mentorship to accelerate seafarers’ professional growth. Over 5,000 operational-level officers and cadets have already been invited to participate, with the company committed to fostering a future-ready maritime workforce.
