In a dramatic rescue operation, all ten crew members of the Vietnamese cargo ship Cong Thanh 07 were saved after the vessel sank off Ha Tinh Province on May 25. The 80-meter bulk carrier, carrying about 4,900 tons of coal, began taking on water due to engine failure and heavy listing, ultimately sinking about nine nautical miles from Vung Ang Port.

A distress call was made at 8:40 PM, prompting a swift response from the Ha Tinh Maritime Port Authority and local rescue agencies. By 9:30 PM, the ship had completely sunk, leaving the crew adrift in treacherous conditions, including heavy rain and waves reaching up to four meters. The Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center dispatched rescue vessels and helicopters to locate the crew.

The first survivor was found by a fishing boat at 5:45 AM the next day. By 11:00 AM, six more crew members were rescued, with others saved by nearby vessels. All ten crew members were accounted for by the afternoon, with officials praising the rescue efforts. The sunken ship remains in 30 meters of water, and a salvage plan has been requested to mitigate potential environmental hazards.
