A joint maritime operation involving Iran and Oman has successfully reached the Thai-flagged vessel Mayuree Naree, which was damaged while navigating the Strait of Hormuz. Thailand’s Foreign Minister, Sihasak Phuangketkeow, confirmed that the Iranian ambassador in Bangkok reported the operation’s progress, although the status of three Thai crew members still aboard the ship remains unverified.

The Thai authorities are currently awaiting official updates on the crew’s safety and condition. Minister Sihasak emphasized that Thailand is not involved in the ongoing Middle Eastern conflict and has sought Iran’s cooperation to ensure safe passage for Thai commercial vessels through this strategically vital waterway.

In preparation for potential transit, the Thai foreign ministry has shared a registry of Thai ships with Iranian officials. Sihasak noted that a vessel operated by Bangchak Energy successfully navigated the Strait of Hormuz and is returning to Thailand, with another ship from SCG Chemicals expected to transit safely as well.

On March 11, 2026, the Mayuree Naree, owned by Precious Shipping, was struck by projectiles while in the Strait of Hormuz. While 20 crew members managed to evacuate to Oman, three remained trapped onboard due to damage sustained in the attack.
