Peel Ports has acquired the business of HES International, a specialist bulk terminal operator headquartered in Rotterdam, to expand its presence on the UK East Coast.
The acquisition also means that Peel Ports will now operate from eight key locations in the UK and Ireland, with the ports of Liverpool, Heysham, Manchester Ship Canal, London Medway, Clydeport, Great Yarmouth and a container terminal in Dublin already being part of its portfolio.
In addition, the new bulk terminal on the south bank of the Humber Estuary will be operated by Peel Ports Logistics, a division of Peel Ports Group specializing in one-stop-shop logistics solutions.
In addition, the terminal has an open storage capacity of 6,200 m² and a covered storage area of 275,000 m³. Claudio Veritiero, CEO of Peel Ports Group, commented: “The acquisition of the HES Humber Bulk Terminal is an important investment for Peel Ports Group as we expand our presence in the east of England and Peel Ports’ one stop shop service Logistics brings to the east coast”.
