Wine lovers and cruise lovers rejoice! Princess Cruises just announced that they will be working with Caymus Vineyards to offer guests special Caymus Vineyards Winemaker Dinners aboard Princess ships sailing through North American and Alaskan waters. These dinners will be available towards the end of April this year.

In further Caymus Vineyards wine news, Caymus Vineyards and Princess Cruises also plan to expand these Winemaker Dinners across the fleet by the end of May 2023.

Gourmet onboard cuisine paired with world-class wines

If the robust and rich flavors of the much-loved Cabernet Sauvignon red appeal to your wine taste, Princess Cruises’ Winemaker Dinners, held at the highly sought-after Crown Grill restaurant, should set you free. These multi-course gourmet meals cost about $140 per head.

This wine and food initiative is the result of Chuck Wagner’s extensive knowledge and experience in the wine industry. Chuck was just a teenager when he started his winery with his parents in the 1970s. Today he is the owner and chief winemaker of the renowned Caymus Vineyards in the wine-growing region of Napa Valley in California.

Caymus Vineyards Winemaker Dinners consist of a five-course menu carefully crafted to match the distinctive flavors of Wagner’s wines. The dinners can accommodate a maximum of 12 guests and are offered several times per cruise – depending on how long the ship is at sea.

Carnival’s own Princess Cruises introduced the Winemaker’s Dinner for the first time Royal Princess 2013 as part of the ship’s dining rooms. Since then, even more ships have offered the culinary experience.

A personal approach to wine and food curation

“We value family, friends, delicious food and great wine, along with the many connections between them.” Wagner commented on his new dinner and wine partnership with Princess Cruises. Waged also praised how Princess feeds herself “deeper relationships” with its patrons through curated, shared dining experiences aboard their ships.

The cruise line’s culinary staff have worked with Wagner to curate multi-course menu plans, which of course are impeccably paired with a selection of wines hand-picked by Chuck Wagner himself.

In addition to the famous Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, dinners can and will include a variety of other offerings from Wagner’s wineries. Some of the notable wines include the Sea Sun Pinot Noir, the Mer Soleil Reserve Chardonnay, and the Emmolo California Sparkling Wine, along with others, all expertly paired with the meals to enhance the flavors of each individual dish.

Shore Excursions to California Vineyards

Along with the new Winemaker Dinners, Caymus Vineyards will also be revamping the seafood and chop house wine list from the Princess’ Crown Grill.

Travelers will also soon have the opportunity to explore Caymus Vineyards in Rutherford, Napa Valley and Caymus-Suisun Winery in Suisun Valley, California on special shore excursions. This is another great “wine” option if guests need more winemaking adventures alongside their wine-themed dinners at sea!
