Container line schedule reliability is continuing to improve returning to pre-pandemic levels according to analysts Sea-Intelligence.

After a dramatic 7.7 percentage point increase in reliability between January and February this year, global container line reliability increased a further 2.4 percentage points in March to an average of 62.6% in SeaIntel’s latest Global Liner Performance Report. The report has over 60 rows on 34 different trades.

The analyst said the figure for March 2023 is on par with the same month in 2020. At the end of March 2020, with the outbreak of the global pandemic that was expected to lead to widespread supply chain disruption, a large number of countries fell into covid- lockdowns.

Supply chain congestion improved tremendously over a year ago when container line schedule reliability was about 26.8 percentage points lower at 35.8%.

Of the top 14 container lines, Maersk was the most reliable at 68.6%, followed by MSC at 67.7%. All 14 carriers were more than 50% on schedule.

Yang Ming was the least reliable airline with a schedule adherence rate of 53.4%.
