Safehaven Marine has unveiled the ‘Baia,’ a state-of-the-art pilot vessel built for P&O Maritime’s operations in Maputo, Mozambique. This marks the fourth collaboration between the two companies, showcasing the success of Safehaven’s Pilot 48 model, which has gained popularity in 12 countries. The ‘Baia’ is the 59th pilot vessel built by Safehaven.
The vessel is powered by MAN D2676 500hp engines, with a speed of 25 knots. It features an ergonomically designed interior with KAB suspension seating for a crew/pilot capacity of 7. The main cabin is equipped with air-conditioning units for hot climate operations and a comprehensive array of navigation equipment for alongside ship pilot transfers.
The ‘Baia’ has a length overall of 14.9m, a beam overall of 4.4m, and a displacement of 17,600kg when lightship and 20,500kg when fully loaded. It also has a fuel capacity of 2000 litres, water capacity of 110 litres, and a seating capacity of 7 pilots/crew plus 5 passengers in the forward accommodation. The vessel is classified by PRS and has survivability features such as single compartment flooding.
