A significant milestone has been reached in the development of Saudi Arabia’s coastal tourism sector with the introduction of licensing regulations. This move aims to regulate coastal tourism activities and encourage practitioners and investors in the sector. Maritime tourism agents play a crucial role in providing services for watercraft, such as yachts and cruise ships, to ensure safe and sustainable navigational tourism activities at sea. The Saudi Royal Commission for AlUla (SRSA) will oversee licensed maritime tourism agents in the Kingdom’s waters, ensuring adherence to the best sustainable standards and practices.
Barbara Buczek, the chief destination experiences officer at Cruise Saudi, was recently awarded the maritime tourism agent license by Mohammed Bukhari, VP of coastal tourism operations at SRSA. The license ceremony took place at Cruise Saudi’s headquarters in Jeddah, marking a significant step towards promoting safe and sustainable maritime tourism in Saudi Arabia’s coastal waters.
