The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has reported the expansion of services to East Africa, India and Iraq. Jeddah Islamic Port has been added to East Africa – Red Sea and Red Sea shipping services by MSC. Serviced weekly by four 2,500 TEU vessels, the East Africa – Red Sea service connects the Islamic Port of Jeddah and the Port of King Abdullah with Djibouti, Mombasa and Dar es Salaam.

The Red Sea services will operate every two months and will connect Jeddah and King Abdullah to Port Sudan on a 1,000 teu vessel with an estimated transit time of one day.

Mawani also announced that Singapore-based Bengal Tiger Line has added King Abdulaziz Port to its newly launched India-Saudi-Iraq (ISI) shipping service.

A 929 teu vessel will link Dammam with the Indian port of Mundra and the Iraqi port of Umm Qasr.
