Ritz-Carlton’s second luxury superyacht, Ilma, recently completed sea trials off the coast of France and is set to enter service in September 2024. Designed by Aivan, the ship features a sleek and graceful exterior inspired by private yacht design, setting it apart from traditional cruise ships. Construction on Ilma began in 2023, with a sister ship, Luminara, also in the works for a 2025 debut.

The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, launched by an investor group, aims to capitalize on the luxury brand’s reputation by expanding into the cruise industry. With the new ships being larger and more traditional in layout compared to their first vessel, the Ilma will accommodate 448 passengers in 224 suites, offering a high crew-to-passenger ratio and luxurious amenities such as dining venues, bars, and a Ritz-Carlton spa.

Following sea trials, Ilma is scheduled to embark on its maiden voyage from Monte Carlo to Rome in September 2024, before cruising the Mediterranean and Caribbean. The ship’s design, created by London-based AD Associates and DPA, aims to provide a yacht-like experience for passengers, with state-of-the-art technology and expanded facilities such as a marina and Ritz Kids programming. Additionally, the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection vessels are available for private charter, further enhancing the ultra-luxury experience for guests.
