VOChidambaranar Port celebrated the 75th Republic Day with a grand event at the port school premises on January 26, 2024. Chief Mechanical Engineer, Shri V. Suresh Babu, unfurled the national flag and received salutes from the CISF, Port Fire Department, and NCC cadets of Port School. In his Republic Day message, Babu highlighted the Constitution of India and the government’s commitment to transparent and accountable functioning. He also discussed plans for capacity expansion, including the development of an outer port with two terminals and the identification of VOC port as a hub for offshore wind farms in southern Tamilnadu.
Babu expressed gratitude for the support and services of all employees, officials, unions, and stakeholders in the recent growth of the Port. He presented recognition awards to medalists of the All India Major Ports Tournaments and port users for their help in distributing relief materials to the flood-affected population. The celebrations also included a cultural spectacle by port students and demonstrations by the CISF contingent, showcasing the spirit of unity and diversity.
