Svitzer, a leading global towage provider and part of A.P. Moller-Maersk, has expanded its presence in Brazil to provide operations and services at the Port of Salvador, including Aratu Port Complexes.
The new port location expands Svitzer’s reach and ability to provide quality towing services to its customers in the region.
Svitzer will operate two modern and powerful tugs, the Svitzer Jamil Darian and the Svitzer Zoe, in the port of Salvador to serve the diverse customer portfolio. Svitzer’s two modern tugs will bring new possibilities for more complex maneuvers and support of different sizes of vessels in the Port of Salvador.
“I am very pleased to announce our expansion into the Port of Salvador and Aratu Port Complexes, which represents another important milestone in our growth strategy for Brazil. Brazil continues to grow in its role as a key player in the global trade ecosystem, resulting in increased port activity. Svitzer is dedicated to his role in the supply chain and serving customers in the region. With this latest entry into Salvador, we are strengthening our coverage of the Brazilian coast and our presence in the country,” said Daniel Reedtz Cohen, Managing Director of Svitzer Brazil.
As part of its overall expansion in Brazil and to support continued organic growth, Svitzer has announced a new build program consisting of six new tugs, the first of which was delivered and commissioned earlier this month at the Port of Pecem. With the new construction program, Svitzer wants to further expand its coverage on the Brazilian coast in the coming years.
Svitzer has been active in Brazil since 2015 and is now present in eight ports in the country.
