Singapore-based Synergy Marine and London-based Unity Ship Management have formed a joint venture crew management company called US Crewing Services. The new venture aims to employ Indian seafarers, as well as crew members from other nationalities, for work on ships. India is a major supplier of crew to the global shipping industry, and this partnership is expected to support the government’s goal of increasing the number of Indian seafarers employed on ships. US Crewing Services will initially provide crew for up to 50 dry bulk carriers from both Unity Maritime and Synergy Marine fleets, with plans to expand to third parties in the future.

The joint venture will be headquartered in Varna, Bulgaria and will focus on providing high-quality crewing management services. It has already taken over crewing services for the ‘Unity Moon’, a bulk carrier built in 2019. The collaboration between Synergy Marine and Unity Ship Management aims to strengthen standards in crewing, ship management, training, and welfare. The companies believe that by combining their expertise and leveraging Synergy’s global reach, they can offer unmatched services while prioritizing the well-being of their seafarers and delivering exceptional value to clients.

Synergy Marine is the world’s third-largest ship management firm, employing over 20,000 seafarers. The new joint venture, US Crewing Services, will engage diverse and highly skilled crews, including Indian, Filipino, Bulgarian, Ukrainian, Bangladeshi, and Georgian seafarers. The companies emphasize the importance of investing in training and development to ensure operational efficiency and uphold thorough standards of maritime safety and service excellence.
