T K Ramachandran is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from Tamil Nadu, currently serving as Chairman of the V O Chidambaranar Port Authority, one of the largest ports in India owned by the Centre. He has been on a Central deputation since 28 December 2018 and has been promoted to the rank of Secretary by October 2022. His tenure will end in December, and it is unclear whether he will continue to serve in the Centre beyond that date. Ramachandran is scheduled to superannuate on 7 September 2025.

Meanwhile, Pant, a Rajasthan cadre IAS officer who served as Secretary of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways earlier this year, has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Department of Health and Family Welfare. He will take charge as Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on 31 July. Prior to his appointment as Secretary of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Pant was OSD in the same ministry from 1 December 2022.

Ramachandran’s work in managing the operations of the V O Chidambaranar Port Authority has been commendable, with the port consistently performing well and contributing to the country’s economic growth. His promotion to Secretary rank is a testament to his hard work and exemplary leadership skills. On the other hand, Pant’s appointment to manage the Department of Health and Family Welfare reflects the government’s need for experienced administrators capable of handling complex tasks across different sectors. Both officers are expected to play a crucial role in shaping the future of their respective ministries.
