The government plans to construct a modern floating dock at Biswanath Ghat

Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, gave an update on the Union Government’s plan to soon build a modern floating dock at Biswanath Ghat.

This will create a smooth platform for transporting cargo and passengers across waterways, which in turn will transform the local economy, said the Union Waterways Minister.

On that occasion, Union Minister Sonowal said: “It gives me great pleasure to bring you this news that the Union Government has drawn up plans to construct a modern floating jetty at the historic Biswanath Ghat. Once operational, this jetty will act as a catalyst for change and the realization of PM Shri Narendra Modi’s vision on transformation through transportation. The rich history of the Biswanath Ghat – as a confluence of spiritual, economic and social importance – will receive another boost. The new jetty will be vital to the smooth passage of passengers for commuting as well as the local economy thriving as farmers and traders can transport our fantastic produce via waterways and export it to the world market. Under the visionary leadership of PM Shri Narendra Modi, the Act East Policy has worked wonders for the economic revitalization of the region on the world trade map. By reviving our traditional trade routes across the Brahmaputra River, we have a tremendous opportunity to regain our glory as a major trading center in this part of the world.”

The senior BJP leader also attended two party meetings in Biswanath and Tezpur today, where he interacted with party workers. As the first person from the north-east region to be represented on both the parliamentary apex committee and the central electoral committee, Sarbananda Sonowal received a warm welcome from party leaders and workers.

Sonowal was pleased with the warm gesture of the party officials. After talking to Party workers about the work done to strengthen the organization, Sonowal urged Party workers to dedicate themselves fully to the cause of nation-building.
