Around 5,642 warehouse projects have so far been completed under the Warehouse Infrastructure Fund (WIF) scheme, Parliament was informed on Friday. Funding of Rs 9,393.68 billion has been approved under the Treasury’s Warehouse Infrastructure Fund (WIF) program to set up 7,953 warehouse projects in 21 states by December 2022, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said in a written response to the Rajya sabah

Estimated storage capacity upon completion of these projects will be 9.32 million tons, he said.

Of this, the cumulative disbursement of the WIF loan up to December 2022 was Rs 8,357 crore compared to the sanctions. “To date, 5,642 projects have been completed,” said the minister.

Aside from the WIF program, Tomar said, the Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Infrastructure Fund (AIF) program facilitates mid- and long-term debt financing for investments in viable projects related to post-harvest management infrastructure through incentives and financial support.

Of the total post-harvest infrastructure units, including the establishment of camps, created under AIF, 36 percent are camps.

Under this scheme, 9,407 warehouses have been sanctioned for an amount of Rs 7,159 crore.

Of this, Rs. 4,812 crore has been disbursed since the launch of the AIF on July 8, 2020 to March 17, the minister added.
