After the Goordijk truck park (210 spaces) on the right bank of the Scheldt, the port of Antwerp-Bruges is now opening the free Ketenis car park on the left bank of the Scheldt with 280 spaces.
The Port of Antwerp-Bruges said driver comfort and protection are top priorities. The truck park is fenced, well-lit and equipped with CCTV, WiFi and toilets, while there are vending machines with snacks and drinks.
In addition, the Belgian port wants to avoid the nuisance caused by parked trucks around the port.
The new car park is located close to the existing and potential container terminals on the left bank of the Scheldt. This offers the opportunity to use the parking space as a midday waiting space for vehicles that arrive at the terminal too early.
The total investment is approximately US$10.8 million, of which approximately US$2.2 million is European assistance under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).
