A Turkish cargo ship with 12 crew members on board disappeared in a storm off the Black Sea coast, and authorities have been unable to contact them since. The captain of the Turkish-flagged Kafkametler reported that the ship was heading towards a breakwater off Eregli in the province of Zonguldak, but severe storms in the region prevented search operations from being carried out by air and sea vessels.
The adverse weather conditions in the area have hindered search and rescue efforts, with search and rescue teams deployed in the region and ready to launch operations when the weather permits. The Turkish province of Zonguldak was hit by severe storms on Sunday, and efforts to locate the missing cargo ship and its crew have been hampered.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and are prepared to conduct search operations as soon as the weather improves. The ship’s disappearance comes amidst challenging weather conditions, and it is hoped that the crew will be located safely once rescue operations can be undertaken.
