United European Car Carriers (UECC) has announced that its state-of-the-art LNG dual-fuel vessel, Auto Energy, has completed its first LNG bunkering operation in the Mediterranean. The short-sea RoRo transport provider said the event took place in the port of Sagunto, Spain and was enabled through a collaboration of UECC, Repsol, ESK and local authorities.
This delivery marks an important step forward in UECC’s commitment to expanding the geographic scope of its LNG operations and promoting environmental sustainability in the maritime industry. It also underscores UECC’s dedication to a greener future for the European transport industry by offering sustainable solutions on a wider range of European routes. Eugenia Bertrand, Head of Green Gases and New LNG Applications at Repsol believes that the partnership will contribute to the decarbonization of the maritime sector, adding that Repsol looks forward to supporting UECC’s future efforts to promote sustainable and efficient maritime transport.
