ECOsubsea recently launched its Ultra High Efficiency Hull Cleaning Service (UHEHCS) in Singapore, unveiling a new ROV that operates 10 times faster than traditional cleaning methods. CEO Tor Østervold highlighted the impressive capabilities of the ROV by sharing that they were able to clean a fully laden capesize vessel with an 18-meter draft in just four hours. The efficiency of the ROV allows for quick and effective hull cleaning, reducing the time spent in port.
Golden Ocean’s Head of Global Operations, Tord Brath, commended ECOsubsea’s ROV for its speed, safety features, and minimal human intervention. This innovation aligns with sustainability goals and offers a forward-thinking solution for shipping companies. ECOsubsea successfully completed its first commercial clean on the Odfjell tanker Bow Cedar in just two hours, showcasing the rapid deployment and efficient operation of the ROV.
The company has chartered Eng Hup Shipping’s largest vessel and made extensive modifications to equip it with a purpose-built ROV Launch & Recovery System, operator station, and a filtration unit. ECOsubsea is also collaborating with waste-management firm Mencast to process collected biowaste. With over 5,000 ships signed up for cleaning during the initial licensing period, ECOsubsea aims to establish a global network of ROVs. CEO Tor Østervold emphasized their goal of becoming a one-stop shop for sustainable hull cleaning, delivering consistent quality worldwide.
