The world’s first Voith-powered LNG dual-fuel tractor tug, named Sultanhani, was successfully launched on February 27th, 2024, at the Uzmar shipyard in Istanbul, Turkey. This is the first of two hulls built for Turkish tug operator BOTAS on behalf of Robert Allan Ltd., based on the TRAktor V3900-DF design. The design is a culmination of Robert Allan Ltd.’s experience in developing Voith tractor tugs and LNG dual-fuel tugs, offering excellent maneuverability and reliability while being more environmentally friendly by being able to run on either diesel oil or LNG with reduced emissions.
The unique TRAktor V3900-DF design features Voith propulsion, with the LNG tank room located behind the engine room to isolate the gas system and associated hazard areas from the residential block. The tug has a length of 39.0 meters, beam of 15.0 meters, depth of 6.0 meters, LNG capacity of 40 m3, diesel oil capacity of 164 m3, 2 x 3000 kW power, and a predicted bollard pull of 80 tons.
