Marine fuel tester VPS is expanding into emissions monitoring and reduction with the acquisition of Emsys Maritime.
VPS has a global presence as a fuel tester and consultancy and aims to expand into related areas such as optimization and reduction of emissions. As part of that expansion, it has acquired Manchester-based emissions measurement company Emsys for an undisclosed amount.
Emsys is a manufacturer of real-time, laser-controlled marine emission measurement technology and has an operations center in South Korea.
dr Malcolm Cooper, CEO of VPS, said: “In Emsys Maritime we have acquired a company with strong technical capabilities and an excellent reputation that will help us achieve our goal of being the leading service provider in optimizing fuel performance and reducing emissions to be. “The addition of real-time emissions measurement data complements our existing marine fuel analysis data to provide a comprehensive understanding of greenhouse gas emissions in the maritime sector.”
Emsys emission monitoring will be integrated into VPS’ existing decarbonization portfolio, which includes Maress, NOxDigital, CORE and PortStats.
