Synopsis:

Wärtsilä is partnering with industrial cloud platform Veracity from DNV to integrate their services, allowing real-time operational data to be sent from Wärtsilä’s Fleet Optimization Solution (FOS) to Veracity, ensuring quality and preparing it for DNV’s verification services. The integration will streamline emissions compliance reporting processes for mutual customers including global ship management company Anglo-Eastern, which is already using FOS to digitally manage more than 500 vessels in its fleet.

A partnership has been formed between Wärtsilä Technology Group and DNV’s industrial cloud platform, Veracity, to create secure and seamless connectivity between Wärtsilä’s Fleet Optimization Solution (FOS) and Veracity. The integration will enable Wärtsilä to send real-time operational data to Veracity with customer consent, where it will be quality assured and prepared for DNV’s verification services. This will improve emissions compliance reporting for their mutual customers.

Since 2019, Wärtsilä has been working with global ship management company Anglo-Eastern to digitize their fleet operations. Over 500 vessels in Anglo-Eastern’s fleet have been equipped with Wärtsilä’s FOS, which is decision support software for voyage planning, charter compliance, fuel efficiency, and fleet performance management. Many of these vessels use DNV as their appointed verifier to obtain accreditation for regulatory emissions reporting. Now, with the digital connection to DNV’s Veracity, Anglo-Eastern’s Fleet Performance Center can streamline reporting processes to its key owners.

“Wärtsilä has invested heavily in new digitally-enabled strategies, and by partnering with them, we are gaining capabilities that support us and our shipowner customers to be leaders in digitalization, safety, and sustainability. The agreement between Wärtsilä and Veracity by DNV further expands the benefits of our collaboration,” says Bjorn Hojgaard, CEO of Anglo-Eastern.

“Today’s marine industry increasingly requires emissions data that can be trusted and safely used throughout the value chain. Veracity by DNV supports this trend by making it easier for industry players to enrich, verify, and gain consensual access to emissions data, making organizations more efficient and future-proof. We are delighted to partner with Wärtsilä to make the service available to large fleet operators such as Anglo-Eastern,” says Mikkel Skou, Managing Director of DNV Veracity.

“By partnering with Veracity by DNV, we are able to help Anglo-Eastern and other large fleet managers and owners take a step closer to end-to-end optimization by streamlining the efficiencies of their operations and improve,” says Ben Chng, Global Sales Director for Wärtsilä Voyage Services. “We now have a really seamless data link from ships reporting to shore offices of FOS users. In addition, they can now use Wärtsilä’s CII offering to record, report and analyze their environmental performance. This agreement reinforces our commitment to support the decarbonization of shipping.”

Wärtsilä’s FOS solution offers a unique infrastructure that includes ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information System) connectivity, cloud computing power, machine learning, and big data analytics, as well as mobile applications on board and on land.
