AIS Anomaly Places Black Sea Ships 12,129 Kilometers Away
The Worldwide AIS Network has reported GNSS interference affecting vessels in the Black Sea and Gulf regions. Four ships near Bulgaria transmitted erroneous AIS positions, inaccurately placing them in Lima, Peru. Significant discrepancies were noted, with 1,702 “impossible position jumps” recorded, highlighting the risks of spoofing in maritime navigation.
