Fire on Japanese SDF Vessel Leads to Capsizing and Crew Casualties

A Maritime Self-Defense Force minesweeper, the Ukushima, caught fire near southwestern Japan, resulting in one missing crew member and another hospitalized. The fire, believed to have started in the engine compartment, caused the ship to capsize off Fukuoka Prefecture. Most crew members were safely evacuated. An investigation will be conducted to prevent future incidents.
