The global shipping order book has reached its highest level in nearly two decades, driven by a boom in tanker contracts and heightened newbuilding demand throughout the 2020s. By Q1 2026, it totaled 191 million compensated gross tonnes, comprising 17% of the current fleet, the highest since 2011.
