A small boat caught fire off Seraya Buoy, located in the waters off Singapore’s south-west coast on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred in the engine room of one of PSA Marine’s pilot boats, which are used to guide large vessels to Singapore’s port. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to the incident and provided emergency assistance along with a pilot boat and a tug boat. The fire was extinguished by a crew from another vessel in the vicinity, and SCDF conducted a damping down operation using a water jet. One person was taken to Singapore General Hospital for smoke inhalation.

A video clip circulating on social media shows the pilot boat engulfed in flames with thick black smoke filling the air. PSA Marine is working with the relevant authorities to investigate the cause of the fire.
