RightShip, a maritime risk management and environmental assessment company, has partnered with AD Ports Group to develop a digital solution called Maritime Emissions Portal (MEP). MEP integrates vessel movement data from the Automatic Identification System (AIS) with RightShip’s maritime insights to help ports and terminals effectively measure and manage their emissions. The goal is to support decarbonisation strategies that align with global, regional, and national targets.

AD Ports Group aims to leverage data-driven insights to identify areas with the highest potential for impact in reducing their facilities’ carbon footprint. The partnership with RightShip and the use of MEP will assist AD Ports Group in developing effective decarbonisation strategies and contribute to creating a zero-harm maritime industry. MEP employs an energy-based modelling technique to compute vessel-based emissions, adhering to UNEP and UNFCCC requirements. The emissions are estimated and shown in a dynamic digital tool, allowing for monitoring against emissions objectives specified by ports.

This collaboration between RightShip and AD Ports Group highlights the critical role of technology in reducing emissions and improving air quality in the local area. By utilizing the Maritime Emissions Portal, ports and terminals can develop comprehensive decarbonisation strategies while maintaining operational efficiency. The integration of vessel movement data with maritime insights provides valuable information to help measure and manage emissions effectively, supporting the global effort to combat climate change.
