All 19 crew members safe after ship runs aground in Romblon

A transport vessel called LCT Ellis Mari IV ran aground off San Jose town in Romblon, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG). The incident occurred on Saturday at around 3 p.m. The vessel had 19 crew members on board and was en route from Odiongan Port in Romblon to San Jose town. The PCG stated that the ship was performing engine docking procedures in Barangay Busay when it ran aground due to strong winds and currents. Fortunately, no one was injured in the mishap.

The vessel was carrying 40 bags of tanner cement, 120 cubic meters of sand, 120 cubic meters of gravel, and five drums of diesel at the time of the accident. Local divers inspected the ship and found minor scratches on the right side near the rear area. The PCG confirmed that all 19 crew members, including the captain, were in good physical condition. They advised the captain to file a marine protest to document the incident for submission to the PCG and Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA).
